TAJA policy
Deleting your account
You can delete your TAJA account from inside the app, or by email if you cannot open it. Deletion takes effect immediately.
In the app
Open TAJA and go to the Account tab. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account, then confirm. The request takes effect immediately — you are signed out on every device at once and cannot sign in again.
By email
If you cannot open the app, email info@taja.co.ke from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We verify that the request comes from the account holder before acting, and we respond within the timeframes the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 requires.
If money is still being held
TAJA holds a client's payment until a job is confirmed complete. If you have a booking with payment still held, deletion is refused and the app tells you how many. Complete or cancel those bookings first — otherwise deletion would leave the other person with a job against a deleted account and money that no refund, confirmation or dispute could reach.
What is deleted
- Your name, email address, phone number and profile photo.
- Your saved address and the map pin that goes with it.
- Your password.
- Your professional listing, if you had one, and any pending application. Every photo and document you uploaded, including any identity or licence documents. Your name on reviews you wrote; the review itself stays, credited to “Former client”.
- Your notifications and your saved push-notification devices.
- Every active session and sign-in token.
What is kept, and for how long
Records of bookings, payments and payouts are kept for as long as we need them for receipts, dispute resolution and our legal, tax and accounting obligations. A booking is a record of an agreement between two people: it keeps what the other person has a stake in — who was booked, for what, where, when and for how much — because Kenyan tax and accounting law requires us to retain transaction records and because a professional’s own history of their work is theirs too. What goes is your account and everything that was only yours. Audit logs of sensitive actions are retained on the same basis.
